Gretna, Louisiana Speed Traps
Wall blvd. between Lapalco and Stone bridge
Wall blvd. is a street with snake like turns that provides unique hiding spots for the police officers. This section of Wall presents with two school zones within a three block range. They tend to set their traps at the intersection between the two schools (i.e. across from the playground). They often set the trap on the road heading toward Lapalco in the morning and on the other side in the evening.
Gretna Blvd – between Stumpf Blvd and Bell Chasse Hwy.
Speed limit is 20mph even though it it a divided 4-lane street. There is a high school at the corner of Stumph and Gretna Blvds. but the speed limit stays at 2omph even after the school zone ends. My mother (of all people) got a speeding ticket for doing 30! (no leeway was given) well past the school zone and during the month of June when school was out. The scuttlebutt is "the reason for this speed zone is that many of Gretna’s prominent citizens live near this street and don’t like the traffic even though this is a main connecting street."

The cops hide behind a tree on either side of Wall blvd. Usually they are out on nice days, esp. after several days of bad weather. The posted limit is 30Mph, however, Wall Blvd is a main throughofare. Watch out on those nice days!
