Frederick, Maryland Speed Traps

New photo camera recently put in place.

Deputy Sheriff patrol car parked on Smokey Court looking for speeders on Ridge Road late in the afternoon most week days.

The Hayward Rd/Rte 15 intersection is notorious for accidents. More than 100 have been reported there in the past 2 years, some with fatalities, many with serious injuries. Speed enforcement is now very active along this short stretch of Rte 15 South, between Monocacy Blvd and Hayward Rd where the limit was recently reduced to 50MPH, and there is zero tolerance, especially during the morning commuter hours.

Traps are all along this road, anytime of day or night. Most often they are located between Prospect Hall (at Rt. 180) and McCain Rd.

Failure to keep car behind white line will result in $70. citation.

Montevue Avenue at Rosemont Avenue, Frederick, Maryland intersection has speed camera photo system to identify anyone running a red light. The lights on Rosemont Avenue are timed to favor Fort Detrick (24/7) they all have a very short yellow light, so it is easy to find yourself going through the intersection on red. Timing is for 3-4 cars to get through at any one time.
