Interstate 70 near 2 Miles after Exit for 144
They catch you as you are coming down the hill into the city of Frederick and just before the speed limit changes from 65 back to 55. They sit underneath an overpass and you do not see them until it is too late.
Himes Avenue
County police will sit off Himes Ave, about 1/4 mile you get onto Himes after your cross the 351/180 intersection. Posted limit is 25mph.
Monocacy Boulevard near Between US15 & MD26
This 4-lane median divided road is classified as a Major Arterial, posted for 25mph but had 42 mph 85th percentile speed from Safety Study performed just a few years ago. The land is zoned Commercial all along one side of road and Residential on the other but the Residential is separated by landscaped berms clearly blocking back yards from the roadway. The roadway segment is not a record based high accident area and it has sidewalks on both sides beyond its curb & gutters. Roadways are classified various classes according to the AASHTO design manual for a reason…..in short to move traffic at the safe speed motorist are comfortable traveling in corridoors where the roadway network, land use and roadway design warrant it. The facts presented speak for themselves.
Key Parkway near Baker Place East
Coming from Willowdale Drive toward Waverley Drive I have seen a policeman sitting at the 2nd entrance to Baker Place East (on the right) at the 2nd entrance, so they can catch you as you are coming down the hill going faster than the posted 25 mph limit. I’ve seen this several times.
New Design Road near Crestwood Boulevard
Officers occasionally sit in a manlift in the shopping center and measure speeds of vehicles coming down the new design rd. hill (Only Southbound traffic is affected).
