Bloomington, Minnesota Speed Traps
Minneapolis, Saint Paul airport entrance
30 mph 4 lane entrance road. Cars entering from 2 60mph roads. Several other entrances require merging with main 60 mph flow. (Esp the "Return to airport lane) Trap is about half way to thr terminal, 4-5 cars, 2 radar scopes, 1 on pedestrian overpass. The return to airport merg lane is way too short to merge @ 30mph.
France Av.
I was on France Av. going north. I had just passed 98th Street. I looked in my mirror and I saw a Bloomington Police car with its lights on. I didnt want to block traffic so I turned left on to a side road. The cop got out of his car and slammed his door he came up to my window and said in a mean and nasty voice "Can I ask you why you pulled of to the left on a side road!" I said I didnt want to block traffic. The cop said "What does the driving manual tell you to do!" He said I was spining my tires coming out of a parking lot and that I was going 45 in a 40 mph zone. I got a ticket for Unreasonable Acceleration and speeding. I think Bloomington Police need to be more FAIR with the citizens.
Bush Lake Road at 86th Street
Police sit on Bush Lake Road South of 86th Street. I was given a ticket for going 54 in a 40.
Bloomington Ferry Road, between Pioneer Trail and 169
On bright sunny days, police will set up a radar gun on a tripod near the intersections with housing developments along this road, with 3-4 police cars waiting to nab speeders. I’ve seen them waving a warning "slow it down" gesture to a driver in front of me instead of pulling them over, too. It’s a big wide road, posted at 30something mph.
102nd Street
Police sit on side road on 102nd between France Av. and Normandale at 2:30 on week days to catch kids coming from school. They use new POP Radar. POP technology is aimed at defeating radar detectors.
