Las Vegas, Nevada Speed Traps
North Rainbow Speed-trap between Washington & Vegas
The bike cops with the tiny wee-wees sit on the East side of Rainbow in the condo entrances by the gates… one up by the Mini Grand Prix and the other down closer to Washington- usually evenings 7p-11p. I believe speed limit is like 35 but most do 40-50. Watch out.
West Hacienda Exiting Mandalay Bay/Luxor
The speed limit is only 35 on this stretch, as opposed to 45 on most major Las Vegas roads. There are two over-passes when you exit the casinos heading westbound: one going over I-15 and the other over railroad tracks. Motorcycle cops sit hidden at the bottom of both overpass hills (literally hiding in the bushes, virtually 24/7), allowing the gravity of going downhill to help increase your speed. Gravity along with the deceptive, unnecessarily slow and poorly marked speed limit makes this small stretch of road the worst speed trap in Las Vegas.
Northbound 2400-1100 S. Buffalo Between Sahara & Charleston
Three lanes on each side of N. & S. bound Buffalo, 45 mph for miles north of Charleston and south of Sahara. No major density or demographic changes on the road with two 35 mph signs posted, blending conspicuously into the background. Motorcycle cops sitting in both north and south bound lanes. Of course, when you believe the speed limit is 45 and you did not catch the sudden, obscure, 35 mph speed limit sign, it’s inevitable. I’m sure they rack up tens of thousands on this little stretch! Sorry, didn’t post the 35 MPH in the first post!
I- 15 & I- 215
NHP Troopers sit on I-15 Eastbound Under I-15 and mail you as you come around the curve going East on IR-215 at I-15. Slow down so you dont have to lose money like I did. I tried to fight my citation and it was pointless. The judge didnt care what my story was and found me guilty. Ouch!!!
I- 15 & W Tropicana Ave
State Troopers in this area will nail anyone cutting in and out of traffic not using turn signals and running on the shoulders (always congested during rush hour)
