Reno, Nevada Speed Traps
Moana Lane near Lymberry Street
Motorcycle cop with radar gun sits in driveway of Ballpark Market or near Walgreen’s. There is a short stretch (maybe 3-4 blocks) of Moana Lane west of S. Virginia that is only 30 mph. The rest of Moana is 35 mph. There seems to be no logically reason for this lower speed, and you will be cited.
Sutro Street near 9th Street
Fairly new 25mph zone. Motorcycle cops hiding in side alley-ways.
Keystone Avenue near 1st Street
When travelling north coming down off the Keystone overpass Reno Police sit on Jones or 1st street and Radar you! Speed limit is 30 mph but it’s not uncommon for motorists to go 45+ it’s the worst at lunchtime as they are trying to pick on Reno high students going for fast food!
West McCarran Drive near Mill Street
Reno Police like to sit on the median and ticket those that make a right turn on Mill Street if you pass the lineup of traffic on the shoulder you get a ticket usually there are 2-4 motorcycle cops there they also enforce speed and the traffic light.
West 7th Street near Conway Street
25 miles and hour from just before Conway eastbound past the school zones which are 15 miles an hour during school sessions. Ridiculous to have those kinds of speed limits with modern vehicles. Mechanical brakes went out 60 years ago, but the ridiculous 15 mile and hour school zones remain. Nothing but a revenue generator for a bloated bureaucracy.
