Reno, Nevada Speed Traps
Sharlands and Avenida de Landa
Motorcycle unit sits at the curb of Avenida de Landa, facing west-bound traffic on Sharlands heading towards Somersett. Speed posted is 40mph, but many vehicles are traveling downhill at 50mph.
Windy Hill
South side of Windy Hill the deputy sheriff catches you when you are southbound with a speed gun. the posted speed is 25 but should be 30 since either end is 35. It is very hard to maintain 25 as you go over the hump and it is down hill on the south side.
Mt. Rose Hwy eastbound…just after 395 overpass
Speed limit before Wedge Pkwy is 50, then slows to 45. However, you’ve on a constant downslope. There is usually a squad car located behind the supports to the bridge…not in view until it’s too late. If you pass Wedge Pkwy. going 50 and don’t brake, it wouldn’t be unrealistic to be going 55 or so when you pass the cop. I’ve been lucky not to get caught here myself.
boomtown on Interstate 80 West and East
The radar trap was between Boomtown and 4th st near Reno on interstate 80. I spotted 4 motorcycles and 5 nice new about, $300,000.00 pickups with radar blazing with at least 3 writing tickets on April 15, 2010 about 1pm !
North Virginia St
Part of the McCarran speed trip, they hide either at a boarded up building or up near the Bonanza Casino on North Virginia Street.
