Reno, Nevada Speed Traps
West or East Hidden Vally Drive
Reno police on West HVD and Washoe County Sheriff on East HVD. Complaints from home owner group has intensified coverage. The whole area is 25 MPH except area around the School which is 15 during school days. Pembrook is now 40 MPH from the bridge to McCarren and the Sheriff writes a lot out there.
Sky Vista Blvd by North Valleys Sports Complex Softball Fiel
You can usually find at least two RenoPD Motorcycle cops by the Entry to the Softball Fields, or across the street on the road to the Mini Storage. You can count on the police being there at the end of the month ( when their ticket quotas are due)
Moana below Skyline Blvd
There’s a 25MPH stretch going downhill from Skyline and going downhill from where Moana goes from 35MPH to 25MPH. Usually two motorcycle cops pick off drivers before they can slow down. I’m sure the city coffers get filled a lot from this little speed trap.
Hunter Lake Drive, .2 miles south of Plumb Lane
Motorcycle police with radar sit at the corner of Hunter Lake Drive and Del Rio, just .2 miles south of Plumb Lane. When traveling north on Hunter Lake there are two downhill slopes before reaching Del Rio making it difficult to spot the hiding police until it’s too late. This is a 25 mph street but feels like a rural area and should be 35 mph or more. You really need to stay on the brakes to avoid coasting past 25mph and getting nailed by the cops at the bottom of the second hill (Del Rio). It’s also easy to exceed 25 mph after turning south on Hunter Lake (25 mph) from Plumb Lane which is a 35 mph street.
North bound 395 at Damonte Ranch on ramp to 395.
Quite often there is a motorcycle cop sitting at the N. bound on ramp hiding behind the concrete barrier looking to catch speeders coming in from Mt. Rose Hwy. into Reno
