Queens, New York Speed Traps
Clearview Expressway near Right after 35th Avenue before Willets Point Blvd.
He hides on the ramp, on the right hand side, right after you pass the 35th avenue off ramp, but right before the last exit before the bridge which is, Willets Point Blvd. Watch for the right hand side on the Onramp For The Expressway about 1/2 mile past 35th Avenue offramp. He’s almost always there everyday.
Astoria Boulevard near Whitestone Expressway
White Police car with no top lights is parked 45 degree angle toward westbound traffic on Astoria Blvd and 108 St. This is start of Astoria Blvd coming off Whitestone Expy feed
BQE Expressway near Exit Number 17
Not really speed trap, but a trap nonetheless.
Everyone knows the traffic on this ramp is terribly slow. The only lane that moves is the left lane going toward Manhattan. The middle and right lane toward Brooklyn are extremely slow. Cars that have to go to Brooklyn often take the left lane and skip all the other cars…To do this, you have to drive over a small cross hatch (striped area). Sometimes, an unmarked police vehicle sits in the cross marks and pulls over drivers who try to skip the line into Brooklyn. As long as you get in the right lane before the cross hatch marks, you’ll be safe. The ticket is about $40.00 plus a $50.00 surcharge I believe.
Grand Central Parkway
Both NYC and NY State Troopers sit in middle median monitoring either or both directions of traffic right at boarder line of Queens (Westbound) Nassau (Eastbound).
Grand Central Parkway near Triboro Bridge Crossing
At the base of the bridge, eastbound, once you enter Queens from Manhattan or the Bronx I’ve seen an officer on the median with his radar/laser gun in hand clocking cars as they come around the bend. Once you come off the bridge it’s downhill and around a bend so you can’t see the officer until the damage is done. There is not enough time to brake, so my advice is to slow it down once you exit the bridge and not to switch lanes going around the bend, the lines are solid!
