Rochester, New York Speed Traps
Hawthorn Dr & I-390
State Police really love sitting under this bridge, both directions always on the right side of the bridge. Traveling on 390S away from the airport, you go down a slight hill and around a slight bend, you really need to check your speed, since the patrol car will shooting laser/radar from under the bridge which you can’t see from a distance. Traveling on 390N toward the airport, you need to always look under the bridge as you approach, you can see if someone is there from a distance.
590N/S No U-Turn, right before 390 interchange
Police like to sit here, but you can see them fairly easily from a distance, just pay attention.
Elmwood Ave Entrance Ramp & I-590N
Police like sitting on the entrance ramp from Elmwood to 590N (a nice straight section of highway). So check your speed before going under the overpass. You can only see if they are sitting there by looking in the side mirror or looking behind your right shoulder (up the ramp) as you go by. (Very, very sneaky!!!)
590N & Highland Ave. Exit Ramp
Late night, patrol car sometimes sits next to the berm wall at the beginning of the exit ramp to Highland Ave, pointing toward oncoming traffic from 590N to catch people who like the nice straight-away. So just need to look from a distance.
Titus Ave & Allwood Dr
Titus Avenue dips in this area and it’s easy to gain speed, IPD sometimes, not often, puts a cruiser on Allwood Drive to catch people driving by on Titus Ave. You really are not going to be able to see the patrol car until it’s too late, because of the houses and trees. So just be mindful and check your speed.
