Troy, New York Speed Traps
Erie Boulevard near State Highway 890
On Erie Blvd when it turns into the really large 4-lane road right before the 890 intersection in front of GE. The speed limit is 30, but the road is huge.
State Route 2 near South Lake Avenue
Traveling toward Pawling Avenue, where Route 2 changes from a 40 into a 30, there’s a little dirt nook on your left that’s hidden by some trees where police often hide. The dirt nook is only about 2/10 of a mile past the end of South Lake avenue. It’s very easy to speed here. I travel this road every day, and I usually see a cop at least once a week. Watch for abrupt posted limit changes!
Rt 7 between I-87 and I-787
Vehicle parked on the median separating 2-lane east bound and 2-lane west bound Rt. 7, between 787 and 87. Maybe zapping laser in either direction. Check your speed going east-bound, as Rt. 7 is straight and all down hill going towards Troy. Visual is usually good as there are no trees or bushes to hide behind, but there are several overpasses. Keep right, pass leFort
River Street
Usually parked on side street around 103rd. Get you going both ways. Troy is notorious for pleading down speeding tickets to "parking on sidewalk" as a revenue enhancer (pled tickets range from $100 to $175) They are on River Street almost daily.
