Interstate 440 near Six Forks Road
White unmarked Chevy Blazer parked in the emergency pull off lane of outer 440, another white unmarked Blazer parked on the Capital Blvd On-Ramp to I-440 Inner Beltline. I have no idea what type of speed measuring method they were using since my radar detector did not go off. Also on the Capital Blvd On-Ramp sat a Raleigh PD marked car to catch whoever the officer in the Blazer Radioed him to pull. There was approximately 4-5 cars pulled over within a 1/2 mile stretch, each by individual squad cars. Great to see our tax dollars at work to keep these extremely dangerous criminals off the street. Speed Limit is 60 MPH, Traffic normally flows at 70+. I set my cruise at 69 and have never had a problem.
Atlantic Ave Between Highwoods Blvd and New Hope Church Rd
RPD car sits on the sidewalk facing oncoming traffic at the bottom of the hill. Speed Limit is 35 mph, most traffic goes 45 mph. I was lucky, as I was slowing down as I approached him. Radar detector did not go off as it usually does when Raleigh Police are clocking, as it seems they mostly use KA band radar.
Rainwater between Harps Mill and Spring Forest
Rainwater is a speed trap in Raleigh with a speed limit of 30. The road has a parking lane on each side with wide traffic lanes. The road goes up and down hills with gentle turns. You naturally want to drive 40 to 45 on this road. The Raleigh PD enforces 31 on Rainwater. You have to ride the brake over half of the distance of the road to maintain the 30 MPH speed. Raleigh PD uses a pack of motorcycles and some cruisers to enforce the Rainwater speedtrap.
