Raleigh, North Carolina Speed Traps
Hwy 70E just before Crabtree Valley Mall
Motorcycle sits in the median behind some bushes just as you cross over the hill. The road is fairly steep and 5 lanes or so. Very easy to go fast and the officer stays busy all day long.
Beltline btwn. Crossroads plaza and Western Blvd.
Watch out for the little game the police like to play out here. They will have an unmarked car parked on the side of the hwy 100 yds. or so before an on-ramp. These guys pick out the speeders and tell the marked police cars which are hiding on the on-ramp. When you drive past the on-ramp they come and get you.
Holly Springs Rd. Between Penny Rd intersection and Walnut Rd intersection
They often sit at the sewage treatment plant right after the heavy curves of Holly Springs Rd. You don’t see them until it’s too late. The also occasionally setup a trap at the baptist church just past the Cary Parkway intersection on Hollysprings Rd. 7/5/02 I saw a total of five cop cars patrolling this strip.
Northbound Capital Blvd (US-1) @ I-540
Speed limit’s only 45 on this 8-lane road. 2-3 Motorcycle cops often set up underneath the overpass where I-540 will come in to Capital on weekday mornings and afternoons. On a sunny day, you will not see ’em in the shadow.
From Raleigh to Exit 373
In between Raleigh and exit 373, right abouts 353 or so minus ten miles or plus ten miles. NCSHP, has a big dog, Cammaro, LR1. He sits backwards against an overpass, car is black and the position he is in you cant see him. Until you are right on top of them. I40 is 70, so stay around there. Anything past 75 he will get you. He loves Marines and sports cars.
