Burlington, Ontario Speed Traps
Guelph Line Road near Britannia Road
There are at least 3 areas of speed traps along Guelph Line north of Dundas Rd to Derry Rd. The most common spot is at Mount Nemo Conservation Area in their driveway or across Guelph Line on Colling Road. I drive this road every day to work and see at least two people a week pulled over. They also sit on Britannia at the church, in Lowville, and sometimes in the Bluffs (the mega-homes). I golfing season this speed trap is nearly daily and if not here then on Cedar Springs. I do not speed more than 10kph over the limit as a coworker was ticketed for 97 in an 80 zone. The speed limits go from 80 to 60 to 50 from Dundas to Lowville.
Appleby Line Road
This trap is actually located between Upper Middle Road and Dundas on Appleby Line. Its targeted at southbound drivers on appleby line. on the south side of the newly built underpass for the train tacks, there is a driveway to the right that’s visibility is impaired by the little building built in to the bridge. where I have on numerous occasions seen a dark blue cruiser parked. (low lighting in that area)
Appleby Line Street near New Street
Monitors southbound traffic, south of new street, cruiser or motorcycle parks on side street, usually between 10am and noon.
Hydro Corridor Trail near Burl Oak Drive to Lakeshore Road
In the city of Burlington, bicycles are used in built-up areas
to patrol walkways and paths inaccessible to normal police cruisers. These bicycle cops also carry Laser units and
set up where ever they may choose. A bicycle can be easily hidden and the officer just sets up where ever speeding traffic is observed. Very quick, very efficient.
Number 1 Side Road near Walkers Line Road
Police often set up on Number 1 Side Rd. between Guelph Line and Appelby from the side of the road hidden in a driveway. Road runs straight but constantly rolls up and down and it’s easy to miss an officer hidden by trees just off the road.
