Toronto, Ontario Speed Traps
Allen Road South of Lawrence Ave
Travelling southbound on the Allen Expressway (Allen Rd). Cruisers are known to hide on the Lawrence Ave on ramp. They’ve got the speed detection right above you as you come out of the Lawrence Ave overpass. There’s no way around it…you’re nabbed and Metro Police will give chase. You can’t escape as this stretch of road is known to back up as you approach Eglinton Ave (Allen Expressway ends here).
Dufferin Street South of Glencairn
Travelling south as you pass Glencairn there’s a slight incline in the road surface. Metro Cops will hide in a driveway across from Country Style. They’ve got you before you even crest the hill. Take it easy…City Of Toronto is hurt for cash and they’re out trying to collect as much as they can!
Birchmount just north of 401
Going northbound, as you crest the CPR rail overpass and go into the tunnel under the 401, they are waiting for you behind the bus shelter on Allenford. If you see them, its already too late. Best to keep your speed at 60 Km/h as you crest said overpass. I pass this stretch going home from work every day and they are often there.
Eglinton Ave East at Leslie Street westbound
Westbound traffic on Eglinton Ave. East between Don Mills Road and Leslie Street goes down a hill with no buildings on either side. The speed trap is hidden behind the overpass at the bottom of the hill just before Leslie Street.
Oriole Pkwy south of Eglinton
Both southbound and northbound between Eglinton and Chaplin Cres. The speed limit is 40 and it’s downhill from Eglinton, so it’s easy to speed up, but also be careful northbound because they’re set up in both directions.
