Toronto, Ontario Speed Traps
Westbound on Lakeshore near Woodbine – random traps
There are two trap locations heading Westbound after Woodbine turns onto Lakeshore. The first street corner running North where the condos are and the bottom of Coxwell avenue. They only randomly pop up, so good to keep an eye out. It’s never both spots at the same time.
Bayview/Bloor Exit from DVP
One of the few ways into the Yorkville area from the DVP is at the Bayview/Bloor off-ramp. You are required to drop right down to 60. No one ever does, and everyone just follows one another. The pigs sit mid way between the DVP and Bayview Ave. in the driveway to the Public Works Depot. They are ballsy about it too. No tripod. They just stand at the side of the road and serve car after car. They see you before you see them. Very easy to speed. One of the city’s cash grab centers! However, you won’t be kept long, it seems as if they have the tickets pre-written and just add your plate number and name.
On-ramp to Gardiner at Lakeshore and Logan
There is a very long on-ramp (going westbound) from the Lakeshore at the very east end of the Gardiner, and this ramp actually seems to be part of the highway itself. However, the speed limit on the ramp is 60kph, and a cruiser will sit tucked into the shoulder, waiting for those that are already accelerating to highway speeds. This is especially annoying, given that the cruiser is literally about 40 feet from the 90kph sign, indicating the start of the actual highway.
Eastern Ave. & Cherry St.
Daily trap!!! Westbound on Eastern Ave. At the foot of the bridge. Cruisers nab drivers exiting the DVP Richmond exit.
Shirley Street
Ususally parked In the Mountjoy Firehall parking lot. This is a school zone so the speed limit is 40 km/h
