Mt moriah & mendenhall @ Halle stadium & the precent
The officer stands BEHIND the fence POLE with a radar gun & then jumps out pointing for you to pull in the drive of the station / stadium. Then proceeded to tell me that I was doing 10 miles over the speed limit. Not true bc I was changing lanes and the car in front of me in the lane I got in was going a little faster than the car in the left lane. Then the driver brake light came on so I had to break that’s when the officer stepped out & flagged me over but not the car in front of me. Why not both of us???
Mount moriah and mendenhall at the police precent
The officer is standing on the side by the fence where you don then jump out with radar gun
Westbound end of Sam Cooper Expressway
The speed limit drops from 55 mph to 40 mph near the end of Sam Cooper. There is a curve and downslope that is a perfect setup for a speed trap…which is what it is, catching the unwary motorist after the start of the 40 mph limit.
Southern Avenue between McLean and Highland
Southern Avenue is bounded by railroad tracks on the south side along this stretch. The speed limit is 35 mph, the same as the standard speed limit throughout Memphis except as otherwise defined by speed limit signs.
Police routinely place radar units on this stretch, both directions, one officer having commented to this writer that it is a “Honey Hole!”
With limited cross traffic, light through traffic and limited stop lights, it is safe to drive 40-45 mph on this stretch and get a speeding ticket.
