Memphis, Tennessee Speed Traps
Ridgeway ; South of Popular going North today,
Operating a side street speed trap. Multiple police cars. A hand held is used at very long distance and then a female office is running out and stopping cars. Easily over 300 ft away which is way to far to be legitimate. Will not be able to show you the radar evidence, Mandatory court appearance. Almost every car going by is pulled over and citation for 48 or 49 in a forty,
Perkins and Flamingo
35mph zone – several officers wait at South Perkins and Amboy, usually between the hours of 3P.M. & 7P.M.
GTown Road from 64 Stage Road (Mall) to Hwy 70 (Summer)
They are like sharks circling up and down this strip. 6 lanes with turn lanes and a 45 mph Speed limit. Speed trap made in heaven for the cops. Really need to drive 44 because 46 is a ticket. They really like it on Sunday morning when you are late to church. One cop told me that was one of the most productive strips of road they had. And now they have a school zone….and they work it hard. Gotta protect the kids!! Plus the fine is a LOT more.
240 between airport and I-55 exit
Memphis does "revenue building" off the backs of travelers and will radar and ticket out of state travelers for the slightest violation here. They lowered the speed limit to 55 (was 65) and target out-of-state vehicles.
I-40 Between mile marker 126-130
Unmarked cars set in the median and catch you just when the speed limit drops from 70 to 65.
