Memphis, Tennessee Speed Traps
I-240 construction zone
Observe the posted 45mph sighns in the construction zones late at night. I happened to be driving along at about 50mph when I passed a MPD cruiser. He fell in behind me and turned BLUE.
I will go to court and pay the fine and court costs so the ticket gets tossed and not on my driving record.
Fenwick Road between Central and Poplar
Police camp out on Lombardy, Picardy, or Garden Lane and wait for speeders on Fenwick. Posted limit of 30mph is reasonable for a narrow two-lane residential street with a dangerous blind curve, but there’s a lot of thru traffic moving 10-15 mph above the limit.
Winchester Road east near Millbranch
Officers sit at the the bottom of the the I 55 overpass clocking cars heading east on Winchester. They are there mid day and evenings unitl late night. Must be a good location to get speeders.
Yates at Kings Point
This officer sits facing west on Kings Point. If you are traveling north, he will get you. You can’t see him until you have almost passed him due to a fence. (Yeah, he’s not "hiding") Also, he won’t say a word or lecture you, and you will get the full ticket. It is the same guy. In addition, another officer works north the Yates/Shady Grove intersection.
Singleton Parway (Covington Pike north of Austin Peah
Here’s a tip, we sit in the middle of the road, blacked out, and by the time you see us, it’s too late. Best tip, buy a radar detector. If you get pulled over or are going to get pulled over, hide the detector. This goes for any time your pulled over by a county car. Judge HATES radar detectors and it will cost ya!
