Rowlett, Texas Speed Traps
Highway 66 (amongst others)
This past week was my first trip through Rowlett in quite sometime; however, it has been necessary for me to drive a young lady to work there in recent days. I’ve noticed the fact that cops in Rowlett "swarm like flies" and they hide behind every bush, crevice, rock or any other "cubby hole" where they might be able to make a couple hundred bucks. I can’t imagine what amount of money they’ll be making, once the new freeway portion opens through that city within the next couple of years!! If you’re unlucky enough to find it necessary to travel through that city, you can bet your life that at least 2-3 cops will be hiding themselves, just waiting for somebody doing 2 miles over the limit!!!
Intersection Kirby Road and Main at high school
Red light trap during school start and end. 3000 students descend on intersection at once snarling traffic. If you get stuck in the intersection you will get ticketed. Don’t proceed through intersection until you KNOW you can get through it completely. If the light changes while you are stuck in the middle you are toast!
rowlett rd and chaha (before chaha, in resident streets)
Coming down Rowlett rd (66) crossing over small bridge turns into Rowlett city limits, be very careful he likes to caught traffic coming from Garland direction into Rowlett. Speed limit is 40. He sit there through out the day!
Chiesa Rd. north, south of Liberty Grove Rd.
Speed limit is 30mph – do it, or get ticketed!!
Main st. between Lakeview Pkwy (aka 66) & Rowlett Road
This is the part of main street that turns into Kenwood at Lakeview Pkwy (aka 66). They sit near the overhead railroad bridge just before the big curve. I’ve seen them on either side of bridge. But mostly before the bridge when you are coming from Lakeview Pkwy. The speed limit is 30.
