Fairfax, Virginia Speed Traps
I66 Westbound
State Police hit at the end of the month and go on the rampage. They are totally rude. I was dragged into Criminal Court for cursing at one of them. The judge was screaming at the lawyers and acted like Hitler. My lawyer got me out of having to appear by my doing 50 hours of community service ($300,000+ worth of free technical advice to the National Wildlife Federation). Be warned – this place is NOT America.
Lee Highway (Route 29) at Fairfax County Pkwy
Where Lee Highway dips down and goes under the Fairfax county parkway overpass, a police officer sits at the bottom of the downgrade faced in the direction of traffic. You can’t see the officer until you are on top of him and after he has clocked you heading into the downgrade. Speed limit is 45. He’s writing tickets by the bushel. Do not speed through here.
RT 66
Beware – patrols are now undercover in blue Ford Explorers – both the old body style and the newer ’02’ model – all I have seen are blue, with license paltes begining with ‘Y’ – one guy runs the HOV in the morning, old blue model, with US flag on the back, license plate beginning "YWK" – look out!
Roberts Pkwy and Burke Commons
The cops have really stepped up their efforts on Roberts Pkwy. They are nailing people as they drive toward FFX from Burke Center Pkwy. Usually they are at the bottom of Burke Commons Dr. There will be a pair of bikes or a cruiser, backed up into the bushes. But, I have also seen them hiding on the curve, just after Burke Center (across from the old K-Mart).
Chain Bridge Road between Main St. and Rt. 29/50
Everyday around lunchtime, an officer will stand on the side of the road (heading from Rt. 29/50 to Main St.) checking for front license plates and stickers.
