Pioneer between River Rd and I-5 on ramps
This is a ticket camera that is clearly marked. The trap is that the speed drops 15 mph a short distance before the camera if you are merging off of River Rd or still coasting off of the freeway. The camera is not visible until you have been cited.
So. 19th St between SR 16 and Mildred St.
The Fircrest police ticket drivers frequently at night. The speed limit drops from 35 to 30 when you briefly skirt Fircrest and lots of people who drive around 40 MPH in the daytime get cited when there’s less traffic at night.
38th St between Tacoma Mall & Portland Ave.
They have been running Speed Traps for the past 6 months or so along 38th.
Speed Limit is 30 mph.
2990 Block of East Bay Street (NB)
City of Tacoma has installed a Photo Enforcement Camera. Speed limit is 35 mph. Warning letters went out the first 15 days. Citations started on December 2nd, 2009. $101.
State Route 16
Anywhere on 16 you are being watched. There is a WSP station on the Gig Harbor side of the bridge and they train cadets too. Best advice just SLOW DOWN !!!!
