San Diego, California Speed Traps
Market Street near State Route East of 15 just over hill from Costco
Eastbound traffic after going over a slight hill (that hides the police) that causes the driver to accelerate will be exceeding speed limit unless they immediately slow at the crest of the hill.
Kearny Villa Road Road near Overpass
The cops sit on the overpass above traffic on Kearny Villa road shooting radar at cars going south on Kearny Villa Road just before traffic can enter onto 163 South. There is a bike lane also at that point and many bike riders have gotten killed at this same point. I know of only one small sign posted saying speed limit 50 ahead and then another small sign saying speed limit 50 down from 65 mph. I wish that the signs were bigger since so many bicyclists have gotten killed at this same point where cars can merge onto 163 south. May the bicyclists that have died here rest in peace. For the motorists driving it is jail time and manslaughter charges. Maybe the city should lower the speed limit on Kearny Villa Road or post larger signs warning motorists.
Fairemont Avenue near Mission Gorge Road
Heading Down the hill on Fairemont Ave coming from Monroe or El Cajon Blvd, There is a Bike or SDPD car hiding on Talmadge Park Row just enough to barely see them. The Posted speed limit is 55Mph down the hill but 50 going up ( go figure? ). They are usually there in the AM ( between 6 and 7 ) and in the afternoon’s ( 4 to 7PM ). Ive only noticed on the South Bound traffic.
Market Street near Euclid Avenue
Market Street eastbound after crossing Euclid Avenue; the two lane street becomes a one lane road (posted speed limit is 25mph)with an outward curve that obscures what lies ahead until the road curves back in where an officer often stands with a radar gun pointing in your directon. When you see him, he has already clocked you. This has been here for years. I avoid that stretch at all costs after one ticket and one warning. It’s hard to maintain 25mph and drivers behind you make it even more difficult by tailgating you.
Maryland Street near Washington Street
There is a motorcycle cop hidden between the parked cars on this residential street which is a shortcut to Highway 163 for University Heights residents. Posted speed limit is 25 but it’s easy to exceed as it’s downhill and there’s always someone tailgating you.
