San Diego, California Speed Traps
Calle Cristobsal/Sorrento Valley Parkway near Greenshade Road
San Diego police officers on motorcycles routinely park on side streets alternating for east bound and west bound traffic.
Flanders Drive near Mira Mesa Boulevard
People often use Flanders Drive to avoid traffic on Mira Mesa Boulevard anywhere between Camino Sante Fe and Camino Ruiz. They think it’s "faster" than driving on Mira Mesa Boulevard that runs parallel to Flanders Drive. It’s certainly a faster route if you speed and don’t fully stop at the stop signs. Police know this and sit in intersecting streets. I know 3 people who have gotten ticketed on Flanders Drive.
State Route 52 W near Interstate 805
On the west-bound 52, there is a speed camera as of 4/3/08 next to the right hand lane, its small but still noticable if you pay attention.
Jackson Drive near Winding Creek Drive
A motorcycle officer hides behind the lightpost in the morning at the Winding Creek intersection and catches those cruising down the hill. It’s very difficult to maintain the 40mph that is posted without constant braking and they know it! I see him there almost every morning.
Interstate 15 near Interstate 8
On I-15 North, right before the interchange with I-8 there is a long downhill section that promotes increased speed, along with an extra lane becoming available on the left mid way down the hill. There is an overpass at the bottom where a motorcycle cop sits and wait for motorists trying to get in the left lane and pass slower cars. You can see him from the top of the hill if you look very closely, otherwise he is obscured by the overpass pillar.
