San Diego, California Speed Traps
Mission Center Road near Sevan Court
Through the Police Department’s own eWatch report, I have seen a listing for a citation at this site 3 times in the past week.
Palm Avenue
This trap is located on Palm Ave, about 1 mile west of Mongomery High school. SDPD bike cop sits in the Midway Baptist church parking lot, waiting to nail someone. Speed limit is 40, but I have seen cars going well over that.
New Salem Street near Mira Mesa Boulevard
Motorcycle officers stand in the driveway of apartments located across from the Mira Mesa Park/Rec Center and they are obscured by bushes. This street is broad and easy to speed on since you transition onto it from major roads with higher speeds. The city was supposed to install speed bumps years ago but it seems the revenue generated from the tickets is more important than the safety of the children at the park! I’ve lived in Mira Mesa for 22 years and it’s only the last few that myself, my family, my neighbors and multitudes of friends have all been pulled over there.
Riviera Drive Street near Moorland Drive
This is a residential street that gets heavy traffic and residents have persuaded the city to erect signs showing one’s approach speed, as well as a stop sign at the corner. Police cars park about half a block before the stop sign. My friend was stopped there but not ticketed.
Mission Gorge Road near State Route 52
Right on the Santee/San Diego Border. SDPD likes to hang out at the entrance to the mobile home park and catch you speeding down the hill.
