San Diego, California Speed Traps
Carroll Canyon Road near Interstate 15
Heading west on Carroll Canyon road from I-15 before you get to Black Mountain Road it is down hill. At the bottom of the hill a motorcycle policeman or two stand behind parked cars with a radar gun. It is a long hill so it is easy to build up speed beyond the 35mph posted.
Market Street near Interstate 15N
Speed Trap on Market St, pass I-15, near Mount Hope Cemetery.SDPD Motor Traffic Cop likely standing on the side of the road, near their BMW bikes go figure,
located underneath some trees, speed limit is posted as only 30 MPH (when did they post that, back in the 1950s?!)
speed limit sign hardly visible/noticable at times,
plus there is a downward hill that immediately passes the I-15 entrance on Market St. where many drivers go 40-50 MPH. their radar guns are highly effective, they have recorded my speed earlier then my radar detector, at 4 seconds faster!, the officer even told me that! thats more than enough time to get anyone!
Bernardo Center Drive near Dove Canyon Road
Heading south/east on Bernardo Center Drive, before it becomes Carmel Valley Road, it crosses Dove Canyon where there is a school. The speed limit drops from 45 to 25 in the course of 1 block. I have seen Highway Patrol there several mornings in a row and was in fact stopped (waved down, really) after being lasered going 42 in this zone. However, it was well after school had started and there were No "children present". (I believe this is why I was let off with a warning). Beyond the next light at Winecreek the limit jumps to 50.
Carmel Mountain Road near US Highway 56
All along Carmel Mtn Rd from the I5/56 and East Ocean Aire. Motorcycle cops line up. Is 45 but should be 55. Very easy to go 65 or 70
Friars Road near Fashin Valley Road
Usually a motorcycle cop parked in the driveway of one the Bluffs Condos. Have seen these cops around for a few years now. Be careful while driving down Friars Road in Fashin Valley.
