Aurora, Colorado Speed Traps
State Highway 83, Parker Rd near Hampden Avenue
Aurora police frequently have radar set up both Northbound and Southbound from 225 to Quincy any time that is not rush hour. Traffic frequently travels 60-75 MPH with a posted limit of 45, driving 45 through this stretch typically makes you a hazard even in the right lane.
Havana Street near 8th Avenue
Speed trap catches all southbound traffic coming from 11th & Havana.. Posted speed limit is 30mph.. Sometimes multiple clusters of officers are present..
S. Potomac Street near E. Center Avenue
Officers sit on E. Center Ave. South of Wheeling Elementary School.
E. Alameda Avenue near E. Cedar Circle
The police like to hide in the entry way to the homes between S. Revere and S. Peoria on the north side of Alameda. They always face the west bound traffic, and they are always on motorcycles. Only once have I seen them on the median strip between east and west bound, but they were still using radar on westbound traffic only. There is a speed limit sign posted just before you reach that corner where they are hiding. They are there several times a month, always during AM rushhour.
Interstate 225 near Colfax Avenue
Northbound I-225 just North of Colfax on-ramp is a major speed trap, particularly in morning rush hour where I’ve seen up to 4 police officers picking people off. It is a serious blind spot coming over Colfax, the highway widens at that point, and it is usually where traffic breaks up, so it is a prime speed trap location.
