Aurora, Colorado Speed Traps
Arapahoe Road near Liverpool Avenue
3-4 motorcycle patrolmen often sit in the field on the north/east corner of the intersection. They are monitoring for traffic traveling west on Arapahoe Road and south on Liverpool coming down the hill. They blend in with the underbrush and are generally not visible until you are well upon them. I have seen them there at various hours of the day and early evening.
E. Colfax Avenue near N. Colorado Boulevard
Two motorcycles parked in the grass on the S.W. corner of Colfax and Chambers. They only check eastbound traffic
Alameda Avenue near Potomac Avenue
Two motorcycle cops sit in the Cinema Grill parking lot. You can’t see them until it’s too late. They are there most mornings catching drivers who are headed EB on Alameda towards I-225. There is also a baby blue cop car that has been known to park there as well.
Interstate 70 near Tower Road
Heading east on I70 between Airport Blvd and Tower Rd., the posted speed is 55 in an area that meets all state statutes for either 65 or 75 mph. Frequent enforcement here obviously constitutes a "speed trap".
Colfax Avenue near Ursula Avenue
Right near the new Fitzsimons hospital (so don’t rush to the hospital). University of colorado officers have nothing better to do than look for speeders! I’ve seen them here very often, midday to rush hour, usually looking for speeders headed west on colfax. Be careful if you’re late for your appointment!
