Aurora, Colorado Speed Traps
Northbound Peoria Street near 30th Avenue
Hiding behind church on north bound side near 30th Ave, they jump out from behind the building with radar guns, etc. and have you pull into parking lot for ticket, almost like drive-thru McDonalds. Speed limit in area is 35 then goes to 40 short distance up road. I got popped for 49 in the 35
Colfax Avenue near Airport/Buckley Roads
When driving Southbound on Airport between Smith Road & Colfax on Airport, Motorcycle officers sit at the top of the hill leading up to Colfax Avenue, They cannot be seen until far too late due to the background they are in front of (bushes, fence, etc) , they are using Laser and a radar detector w/o Laser will not pick them up. They also look out for ‘too dark tint’, missing headlamps, taillamps, any minor infraction and will write tickets for that also while you are stopped at the Colfax/Airport Light.
Smoky Hill Road near Laredo Street
This speed trap is on the stretch of Smoky Hill Road that runs behind Smoky Hill High School. Especially when the weather is good cops will camp out on the median either on motorcycles or just standing. The intention is to catch high school students speeding during their off hours but most of the people I see pulled over are well over high school age. Be careful because the school zone enforcement is in effect during the lunch hour which is usually what throws people off!
Arapahoe Road near Liverpool Intersection
There are two motorcycle cops on the NE side of Arapahoe, very close to the Liverpool intersection parked in the grass and sidewalk with radar guns.
