Jacksonville, Florida Speed Traps
Collins Road near Blanding Boulevard
Heading eastbound on Collins from Rampart to Blanding, as you pass over the 295 overpass and come down, there are apartments on the right side of the road. Immediately following those apartments are bushes and officers have been known to park their cars back so the bushes are blocking them and they stand behind them to radar you. Then the officers will walk out in the road and pull you over that way.
US Highway 1 near Between JTB and University
heavy patroling between jtb and university. sat at work and watched 1 state tropper in 2 hours ticket 8 cars. others i work with have noticed the same thing on different days but it is usually betwen 10am-2pm
Lake Shore Boulevard near Park Street
Both Florida HP and Jacksonville Sheriff’s Dept officers will set up under a canopy of trees located just north of the intersection of Park Street and Lakeshore Blvd. Often multiple units of autos and cycles. An officer will stand on the shoulder of the road using a radar/laser gun. Speed limit is 30 but traffic routinely moves at 40. This is in operation almost every week during the mid morning time frame. It is close to a donut shop and provides easy money for the city.
Southside Boulevard near Interstate Jay Turner Butler
Traveling southbound on Southside Blvd, just after the JTB overpass at 12:00 Pm for an hour to 2 at lunch hour. Mainly Lidar. They preform the trap almost weekly. Also, there is often a lone officer with either Lidar or Radar from 4:00 pm to 5-6 pm in the same location. I have lived nearby for 3 years and twice, they have switched to the other side of the road to target nortbound drivers with Lidar. They hide their cars in the trees and bushes comming from both Directions. If your comming southbound, They are after the overpass and are impossible to notice. If your travelling northbound, they are before the overpass but it is VERY rare for them to target nortbound traffic because of lack of cover and I suppose also because cars are trying to merge onto and off of JTB right after the trap.
US Highway 17 near just south of park ave overpass
JSO will sit under overpass with lights off after dark to catch speeders. I have seen cars there at least 8 days out of past 2 weeks. Speed is clearly posted right before you reach this point.
