Jacksonville, Florida Speed Traps
Ortega Farms Boulevard near Timuquana Road
Sits hidden under trees near Timuquana Road and checks people that are going from 118th Street toward Timuquana. If going more than 10 miles an hour over speed limit they will ticket you.
Wonderwood Expressway near State Road A1A Road
They have under cover cars on road. SUV’S and cars of all sorts.
Wonderwood Expressway near Girvin Road
As you are traveling east bound on the newly open Wonderwood Expy just east of Girvin road at the bridge that goes over the Intercoastal Waterway the posted speed limit is 55 mph. On the opposite side the speed limit is 45 mph. There is a reduced speed ahead sign but I believe from a traffic engineering point of view is too close to the 45 mph. The police sit in the median looking back west bound and as you top the crest at 55+ you are dead meat.
Interstate 95 near Southside Blvd Overpass
Atop the Southside Blvd overpass, officers with radar and lasers clock vehicles on I-95 passing southbound below it.(They can only clock southbound vehicles as this ramp does not have a northbound entrance or exit.) There can be a slew of motorcycles on the entrance to southbound 95, so many cars can be pulled over and ticketed at once.
What makes this speed trap so tricky (and effective) is that there is no southbound exit to Southside Blvd, and with no ramp, the overpass is virtually un-noticeable until it’s too late to slow down.
Out of towners should note it is located just south of and after the Baymeadows Rd exit and just before the exit/merge from Phillips Highway (the Avenues Mall exit). It is mainly used during non-peak, daylight hours and the officers on the overpass are visible from I-95 below.
Interstate 10
