Ann Arbor, Michigan Speed Traps
Pontiac Trail Street near From Moore St. to City Limits
Pontiac Trail, coming into Ann Arbor, from the city limits to Broadway, the speed limit drops to 25 MPH. Police will sit on the side streets, especially as you get closer to Broadway. Pontiac Trail is a major inbound artery into the hospital complex and downtown during the morning rush hour and vice versa. It only a guess, but I think the police set up periodically for this.
Depot Street near Between train station and Gandy Dancy.
Ann Arbor’s finest revenue collectors hang out just off the street and behind one of the new Broadway bridge piers. Exactly between train station and the Gandy Dancer restaurant. I frequently see them when I head down Casey St. to Depot St. You can even see them in their hiding position if you look down Casey St. as you’re about to go over the Broadway Bridge heading away from downtown. The hiding spot is perfectly sandwiched between the bridge pier and the restaurant – it is virtually impossible to see them before they see you and the already tax burdened citizenry easily fall victim to revenue collectors at this spot.
Washtenaw Avenue near Stadium Boulevard
On East bound Washtenaw, there is a long, shallow grade to the curve where Washtenaw meets Stadium Blvd. The speed limit is 35, but the street is 4 wide lanes with a few entrances on the west side of the street. The police wait in these parking lots, mostly at night. Braking is frequently required to stay under the speed limit. The speed limit goes up to 45 after the curve, but the street is basically the same as in the 35 mph section. I see people pulled over there about half the time.
Dixboro Road near Plymouth Road

Huron River Drive near Barton Nature Area
Heading towards Main St. on Huron River Dr. at the Barton Nature Area, Ann Arbor police sit well off the road in one to two vehicles, parked against the roadside brush which tends to hide their dark-painted squad cars. 7 to 8AM is a favorite time to run radar so the cop cars and/or van stay hidden in the dim, early morning light, catching those
on their way to work. However, this trap set at 35 MPH can be run at anytime during the day.
