Ann Arbor, Michigan Speed Traps
Sunset Road near Spring Street
The police cars are regularly parked on the north side of Sunset just before you get to Spring St. catching cars cutting through from Newport to Main St. There is a rise in the road so that if you are going west to east you cannot see them until you crest the hill. They also park around the corner on Fountain, sometimes this is later in the day during after work rush hour. The posted speed limit is 25 because this is a residential area. However, it is very easy to get your speed up because Sunset is a long and wide road that is a convenient thouroughfare to Main street. The west end of Sunset is a school zone. This spot is maybe five or six blocks east of that area.
Packard Road near South BLVD Street
Officers routinely sit on either side of the road. Enforcement typically takes place during the day. Prevailing rate of travel is around 40mph, however the legal speed limit drops from 40 to 35.
Huron Parkway near Washtenaw Avenue
Huron Pkwy between Washtenaw Ave and E Huron River Dr. Police set up traps on the inside of the curvy, hilly road. Most cars have to brake to keep below the speed limit coming down some of these hills.
Plymouth Road near Broadway Bridge
Police car hides at varying locations around the Broadway Bridge on Plymouth Road. I received a ticket for going 35 mph in a 30 zone during rush hour.
Geddes Road near Hill Street
Geddes Road from Hill St to the link with Huron Parkway: police cars park in the smaller side streets (Huntington, Appleway, Arlington, Dover Place). The area is hilly and has highly variable speeds posted [25/30/35, depending on where you are] in a very short stretch, so it’s easy to be a couple mph "over".
