Las Vegas, Nevada Speed Traps
Decatur Avenue near Ann Road
On North Decatur between the 215 & Ann Rd. or Lone Mountain, periodically there are motorcycle cops with radar hiding out to enforce the speed limit, even though that stretch of road is a downhill/uphill area. There were 3 of them around 7:30-8:30 pm, on weeknights, but I’ve seen them before in the morning on weekdays–hiding out. Be careful! Also, the west side of Decatur is the City of Las Vegas & the east side is the City of North Las Vegas, if you’re into jurisdictional issues.
Pecos Street near Washburn Avenue
There is construction at the end of this street where it turns to Washburn. The police hide behind the trees and wait for you to roll through the stop sign even though there is no traffic coming out of the unused road. Then its a $300.00 ticket for failure to stop.
Aliante Parkway near 215 Loop
Going south on Aliante from the 215, the speed limit is 35, and turns to 25 very quickly after the gas station. (Because a park is near and pedestrian crosswalk) Motorcycle cops sit in the median behind a large bush. Usually 2 motorcycle cops.
Reno Road near Quail Air Center
Las Vegas Metro motercycle officers will sit in the shade of the trees on the south side of the street in the drive ways of the Quail Air Center. They can clock traffic in both directions. This is worked mostly on weekends.
Pavillion Center Drive near Charleston Boulevard
Motorcycle & cop cars are always waiting for someone to go over the 30 mph speed limit. Do not speed on Pavillion btwn Far Hills & Charleston! They will bust you!
