Rochester, New York Speed Traps
Irondequoit Bridge, Rt. 104
Cops sit at both ends of the bridge and catch cars coming down the hill onto Irondequoit Bridge. It is 3 lanes wide but is only 55mph. Traffic regularly tavels above 70mph. Mostly laser, some radar. They usually set up a speed trap during morning rush hour at least once a week.
590, just north of the 390/590 split
The county sheriff’s deputies sit right in the median just north of the 390/590 split. They CONSTANTLY have people pulled over late night, between the hours of 11 pm and 3 am. You’re bound to see at least one person pulled over here. Especially if your’e coming northbound — WATCH OUT! I’ve been pulled over here and they don’t give out warnings, just tickets.
531 just west of the 490/531 split
there is usually one state trooper or sheriff sitting in the no u-turn facing west times vary.
I-390 North at Ridgeway Overpass
This is what we call the "Cat and Mouse" approach that the State Police use. 2 cars will sit on the most southern side of the overpass and aim their gun down onto the interstate below nabbing vehicles going North bound> They then radio ahead to awaiting cars anywhere from 1-3 miles ahead to pull you over. Keep this in mind. THIS IS ILLEGAL!! If you ask to see the radio gun with your "alleged" speed, they MUST SHOW YOU!! Chances are, smokey who originally gunned you, has already reset his gun and is monitoring other cars. I have used this as a defense twice now, and BOTH tickets were dismissed!!!
I-490 justwest of the 531 split
there is usually a gates , state tropper, or a shariff sitting in the median closer to the west bound traffic lane. but only when the weather permits. usually only in the early spring summer early fall. I guess he does not want to get stuck in the mud.
