Toronto, Ontario Speed Traps
Martingrove North of Abion
The cops like to hide behind light poles, and in the park parking lots. They are both sides of the street. (Northbound & Southbound) Watch out!! They got nuttin else better to do than to harrass the public… they are there usually during the morning and lateafternoon/ early evening commutes..
Victoria Park Ave and Medhurst Rd, ( above Danforth Ave. )
Police set up off road at the top of the hill by the golf course. Cannot be easily spotted.
Wilson and Keele
Toronto Police and OPP usually set up camp on Wilson both directions. One is going towards Dufferin westbound (right across from Murry Rd) just after the railway bridge as the bridge provides the police with some cover and suprise. The same is true if you go eastbound after that same bridge. The police park in front of a cemetary right after the bridge. The limit is 50km but that starts right before the bridge going westbound, but your probably decreasing from the 60km on Wilson from Keele. I live in on Wilson and have been caught both ways. My fines have been from $65 and $115. I’ve heard from a lawyer that the officers in this usually make it to traffic court if you want to fight the ticket.
Caledonia and Lawrence
Toronto Police will set up a trap in the morning to catch those rushing to work. Its located just before Lawrence going southbound on Caledonia. Toronto police are located on a side street and set up a tripod with the laser up and running. Sometimes there is no destinctive cruiser and instead a police bike. There is also a chain fence there to decrease visibility. Its a 50km trap but usually people go at least 70km as there is only one stoplight between the 401 overpass and Lawrence. I’ve been caught there already with a $125 ticket. The police are generally nice and fast and don’t even ask for registration so they can catch the next person.
Lawrence Ave E. east of Mt. Pleasant
There’s a little hill that you come over as you go east on Lawrence past Mt. Pleasant. They usually have the trap on a tripod on one of the little side streets with the cruiser back out of view. I’m not even sure what the posted speed limit is through there ( I specifically looked from Avenue Road ALL the way over…assuming it’s 60kph)
