Nashville, Tennessee Speed Traps
Thompson Lane near Interstate 24
Police park under the exit ramp from Thompson Lane to I-24, north bound only. One officer has a radar gun, another stands in the street, points to cars and waves them over, about six cars every ten minutes. This is not a constant presence … I only see them on occasion, but they hit hard when they are present. Speed limit is 45mph, I got ticketed for going 55.
4th Avenue near Moore Lane
Traveling on 4th Ave S./Nolensville Rd. near fairgrounds police like to sit at the bottom of a large hill and catch people speeding at the afternoon rush hour
8th Avenue near Berry Road
Between the Woodmont/Thompson Lane interchange and Berry Road, the speed on 8th Ave. S./Franklin drops precipitously. It’s Berry Hill territory, so they’ll do periodic stakeouts to keep the city in the dough.
Broadmoor Avenue near Ellington Parkway
Every morning or every other morning there is a police officer sitting in the church parking lot or on the street that runs next to the church parking lot on Broadmoor Avenue.
Trinity Lane near White Creek Pike Street
In the BP gas station there is a cop that sits there during the hours of around 2:00 pm to about 3:30pm. They sit there and wait for the people who are coming down the hill doing just a little bit over the speed limit. Because there is a school zone and the speed limit is 15mph they usually get you doing anywhere from 17-20mph. They get you coming down the hill so that you automatically pick up speed. Word to the wise – Keep your foot on the brake!
