Nashville, Tennessee Speed Traps
West End Road near 440 Expressway
As you exit 440 onto West End, heading towards St. Thomas hospital, police have been known to post up 3-4 cars at a time to catch speeders. The tricky thing is, when you exit the interstate and enter West End, the 35 mph speed limit isn’t posted, and the first posted speed limit is 40 mph. I’m a student at Aquinas College on West End and I go this route every day. One night, they were out and I saw them, and I felt immune due to my 42 mph speed; to my dismay, lights started flashing in my rearview and he pulled me over for going 42 in a 35 as I came off the on ramp onto West End.
Tyne Boulevard near Franklin Road
At the base of the hill at the intersection of Tyne Blvd and Overton Lea Rd, the police post up in a driveway and pwn people as they come over the hill headed toward Franklin Rd and coming down the gradient away from Franklin Rd. I live on this road, and I go in excess of 50 mph in this 35 mph zone, as do most motorists. Be wary! They like to pull over minivans and suburbans at this spot.
Interstate 440 West near West End Road
On I-440 West, between the Hillsboro Rd/21st Ave exit and the West End/Harding Rd. exit, a motorcycle cop will sit on the right side of the road during the mid-day rush and pull people over for excessive speeds. Be wary!
Briley Parkway near Exit Number 19
Extreme trap between whites creek pike and dickerson rd metro hides in the curve in unmarked cars
Jefferson Street near 3rd Avenue
Metro cops, usually cycles, sit in parking lot and shoot the traffic coming down the Jefferson Street bridge heading into town. It’s a 35 zone, 7 lanes wide, and you’ll be accelerating as you climb the hill. When you top the hill start braking or they’ll nail you. See them at least once a week here on my courier route.
