Interstate 65 near Interstate 65

Nashville, TennesseeJun 09, 20060 Comments

Between Nashville, Tn and Franklin, Ky on I-65 N and S, police hide in tree blinds and behind hills in the median. I think the speed limits are fine(70mph) my problem with this area is that the police hide in the trees and bushes. This causes a reaction of sudden surprise by motorists and people will lock down their brakes even when they are going the speed limit. I have seen several accidents as a direct result of these tactics and the reaction that they cause. If the police were really interested in slowing traffic down, I would think that they would want to be more visible. This tactic makes one feel that the only reason that they are out there is to generate revenue.

This is the first exit after entering onto Briley East from I-24. They coppers sit with their radar gun and pull people over during the lunch time hour on weekdays.

Division Street near 8th S Avenue

Nashville, TennesseeApr 22, 20060 Comments

A multi-officer (minimum 2, often 3 or 4) is set up on Division at 8th Ave S, towards Frugal MacDoogals. One officer will stand at the corner, catching people heading downtown during morning rush hour. He then sends them to the other officer(s) on Division, who then write tickets. There’s a rise in the road right before reaching the intersection, making it impossible to see that they’re there before it’s too late.

8th Avenue South Avenue near Division Road

Nashville, TennesseeApr 01, 20060 Comments

Travelling North on 8th Avenue South, just before the bridge the speed limit has been lowered to 30 mph. Two Metro Motor Cycle cops stand behind a light pole on Division & clock you coming down the hill. When I was pulled over, I was told the speed limit has just been lowered. This is how Nashville catches up on Chief Serpas’ ticket quotas.
