Nashville, Tennessee Speed Traps
Briley Parkway near State Highway Murfreesboro Pike
Cops sit at or slightly over the crest of the hill on Briley Parkway at Murfreesboro Pike. Enforcment here is like shooting fish in a barrel – wide, smooth 4-lane highway, 45 MPH limit, very heavily enforced (at least daily, if not several shifts per day). They work north and south bound traffic (usually north bound), and sometimes sit in the median at the foot of the Murfreesboro Pike overpass in front of Vought Aerostructures. You’ll have little to NO warning for this one.
Thompson Lane near Simmons Avenue
Cops sit in front of St. Edwards Church/School, and usually work laser aimed at west bound traffic (traffic moving toward Nolensville Pike).
State Highway Murfreesboro Pike near Pool Avenue
Cops sit in the parking lot of Joslin Sign Company, which is adjacent to Carl Black Chevrolet, and between Arlington Ave and Foster Ave. They usually run laser and aim toward Arlington Ave at northbound traffic (at traffic moving toward the city). Beware – approaching this trap your line of sight to the cops is completely obstructed by the railroad overpass. You’ll get little to no warning on a laser detector. Do not speed between Arlington and Foster Ave.! This is worked almost daily.
Thompson Lane near Wingate Avenue
Cops sit in the parking lot of Wingate Church of Christ (corner of Thompson and Wingate). They usually work laser at east bound traffic (traffic moving toward Briley Pkwy/I-24)
State Highway Murfreesboro Pike near McGavock Pike Street
Cops sit inside or on either end of the tunnel going underneath the runway working traffic moving either direction, usually with laser. They have been known to tinker with the lighting in the tunnel to make themselves less visible. If the tunnel is dark, that’s a dead giveaway. Tunnel runs between Donelson Pike and McGavock Pike, and is next to Dell. Also a very common DUI and seatbelt-nanny checkpoint.
