San Antonio, Texas Speed Traps
Bulverde / Smithson Valley Road near Evans Avenue
On Bulverde Road from Evans to FM 1863… where it becomes Smithson Valley. I live here and have been pulled over and ticketed twice. I see people getting tickets all day every single day. Heavy enforcement.
Interstate 90 near Interstate 37
I came off I-37 onto I-90 westbound. Two cops with two pulled over just beyond the ramp. Continued west and saw a total of fourteen, nine cars and five cycle cops, all but two with cars pulled over, the other two shooting, between I-37 and Loop 410. (6 miles) Guess what, last day of the month! What quotas? Are you kidding? Regular re-occurance, end of each month. Easy pickins, everybody does 70 in a 65 through there. (I-90 from I-37 to loop 410 westside)
US Highway 281 near Bitters Road
Going South on US Hwy 281, just before the Bitters Rd Exit, A policeman will operate a tripod mounted laser to read your speed from either the side of the road or from the bridge overhead. He then radios to patrol cars waiting further down. This setup is hard to spot because we normally look for a patrol car parked on the side of the highway. Unlike traditional radar, this laser unit allows them to hit cars that are very close together – they can get 3 or 4 cars in a line if they are all speeding.
Crestway Road near Kitty Hawk/Gibbs Sprawl
Cops will sit in the turning lane of this road. Be careful at night; there are no streetlights, which makes it very difficult to see them set up.
New Guilbeau Road near 1604 Loop
New Guilbeau Road from 1604 to Old Tezel is coming under high enforcment due to the high number of speed-related accidents. Speed limit is 35 and they Will cite for 36+! Have heard a few people also mention that they were cited for wreckless driving for exceeding the limit by more that 15mph!
